About Me

Jeannine Gettis - Licensed Massage Therapist

With over 30 years of experience in massage, yoga, bodywork, movement, dance, creative arts, meditation and mindset modalities, my goal is to work alongside you as you develop your self-care tools. It is my pleasure to share support and resources to promote your path of growth.

My clients enjoy my approach to bodywork and report that their physical complaints are addressed in a way that is precise and specific within the context of an over-all relaxing session. I bring a body of information and a connection to intuition to my work and appreciate having work that I love. Esthetic Skin Care training underway at Manhattan's Lia Schorr Institute for Cosmetic Skin Care - NYS License being added mid-2026. In addition to providing Massage and Skincare services at my home based private practice, I work at a luxury destination resort and spa in the spectacular Finger Lakes region of Central New York.

I am an avid travelling spa-goer and I am glad whenever I can "practice what I preach" - I have hiked deep into forests to soak in hot springs in Oregon and New Mexico, taken a glass elevator up to the 57th floor to luxuriate in a 5 star spa, experienced traditional Hawaiian massage beach side and marveled beside the ancient Roman hot springs in Bath, England (70 AD). I camped on the beach at an island Yoga Ashram for 3 weeks when I learned Thai Yoga Massage.

I love immersing in nature, exploring new landscapes and looking for (and photographing) beauty wherever I go. I have a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Minor in Women's Studies. I am sensitive, inquisitive and moved by the quest for justice and respect for vulnerable people, all sentient beings and sacred places. I notice ways that things can improve and the places that cry out for balance and healing. I worked as a Real Estate photographer in 2000 in NYC and as I looked for my commercial properties, I was always noticing the "flowers growing through the concrete".

Cat naps with my cats are the best and I enjoy relaxing at home in my "she shed" and puttering in the garden. I like to have big and small adventures with my old and young family members.

I express my creativity through learning to play the piano, and, since childhood, I have been writing poetry and have compiled a yet-to-be-published 100 page poetry and art book manuscript.

I have taught Yoga in many settings including outdoor festivals, at schools and corporate settings for team building workshops, at Pure & Simple Yoga, community yoga at the YMCA and as an Adjunct Instructor at SUNY Cortland.

With "World's Oldest Yoga Teacher" in 2018 - Tao Porchon-Lynch.
